Clay Combs, Jr.

Clay Combs, Jr., age 79 of Verona, Preble County, Ohio died Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Born on February 5, 1923 in Hazard, Kentucky he was the son of the late Clay & Lillie (Murphy) Combs, Sr.

He was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran and a retired Coal Miner after 20 years with the Blue Diamond Coal Co. in Hazard, Ky. Preceded in death by his 1st Wife: Virginia N. Arbuckle Combs in 1998.

Survived by Wife: Nadine (Nickols) Combs; Sons: Robert C. Combs & George H. Combs both of Verona, Ohio; Bill G. Combs of Eaton, Ohio; Daughters: Ann Crye of West Manchester, Ohio; Marty M. Brunson of Land of Lakes, Fl.; Judy G. Plaugher, Lydia C. Michael and Patricia L. Pierson all of Eaton, Ohio; Daisy D. Potter of Dayton, Ohio; Sister: Virginia Gross of Middletown, Ohio. 22 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2003 - 2:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Pastor Riley Parker officiating. Interment will be held in Preble Memory Gardens - West Alexandria, Ohio with full military graveside services provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4, 2003 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Dayton Veteran’s Hospital - Hospice Unit of Dayton, Ohio.
