Cecil Elwood (Woody) Jordan

Cecil Elwood (Woody) Jordan, 87 of New Paris, Preble County, OH, died Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Kettering Memorial Hospital. Born on August 17, 1935, in Xenia, Greene County, Ohio the son of the late James B. & Charlotte (Miller) Jordan. He graduated in 1953 Xenia High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked at Fulfillments of America in Dayton, where he met the love of his life, his wife. He graduated from the Dayton Barber College in 1960.

Woody retired in December 2015, a Preble County Barber. He attended Eaton Community Church. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandpa always attending sporting and many children’s events over the years. He enjoyed singing having a song for every occasion. He did not know a stranger and was kind to everyone.

Preceded in death by his wife of 59 years: Phyllis G. Jordan in 2019 and great grandson: Brantley Isaiah Hammer in 2021, Sisters: Jerry, Lucille, Eileen, Reba and Bonnie and brother: Virgil.

Survived by his children: Spencer & Shelly Jordan; Paula & Archie Gallaher, and Sharon Cox; Grandchildren: Ciara (Tony); Ashley (Josh), Tiffany (Brandon), Kara (Matt), Shania (Carson) and Erika. Great grandchildren: Adelaya, Emberly, Everly, Paisley, Braylee, Myla, Emma and Tyler, many nieces, and nephews, sister: Viola.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Barnes Funeral Home – 220 East Main Street – Eaton, Ohio. The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday January 18, 2023, at the funeral home with Dr. Dan Denlinger officiating. Interment will be in Preble Memory Gardens West Alexandria, OH with military honors.
