Carol Lee (Hollis) Armacost

Carol Lee (Hollis) Armacost met her Lord and Savior, as well as family and friends who preceded her in death, on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Born May 15th, 1938, to Sam and Helen Hollis, Carol was a Hoosier at heart and a lifelong Reds fan who loved her family and friends deeply, profoundly, and richly. After graduating with both a Bachelor and Master of Education degree from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, Carol went on to serve in the practice of education as an elementary school teacher for 25 years before joining her husband in retirement. Her quick wit and ability to meet her students where they were made Carol a beloved teacher and an important contributor to Preble County.

Within six months of meeting Robert (Bob) Armacost, the two married each other on June 8th, 1962, in Richmond, Indiana, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2022. After marrying the love her life at the First United Methodist Church of Richmond, Indiana, Carol and Bob moved to Ohio and raised three daughters, Kristi, Susan, and Traci.

Carol loved traveling back to Indiana to visit her parents and sisters as often as possible, as well as taking many trips to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to discover the wonders of the Smoky Mountains, where many fun trips were had whether with her husband and family or with friends. Carol enjoyed spending time with others through bridge and canasta card clubs, the Alpha Garden Club, and the Eaton Current Events Club. A member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church for over fifty years, Carol even joined the church choir for a few of those years.

Carol was a devoted wife and mother and a cherished Grammy to 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and is survived by her husband Bob, three children Kristi (Tom) Marth, Susan (Jim) Lowney, and Traci (Andy) Wansack, her 11 grandchildren, Meghan (Marty), Colin (Melanie), Kara (Brad), Ally, Jerris, Seamus, Justine, Aubrey, Caroline, AJ, and Mary, and four great-grandchildren, Henry, Emma, Danny, and Jane.

Carol is also survived by two adoring sisters Valorie and Kay (Keith) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents (Sam and Helen Hollis), in-laws (J. Marvin and Reatha Armacost), and brother-in-law (Warren).

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Eaton United Methodist Church (St. Paul United Methodist Church), 120 N. Maple St., Eaton, Ohio, with Pastor John S. Richards officiating. The interment will be held in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church.
