James Douglas “Doug” Keehn, age 73 of Gratis Township, Preble County, Ohio passed on Wednesday morning June 10, 2026, at Kettering Hospital in Kettering, Ohio. He was born on December 8, 1952, the son of the late Frank L. & Terecia Laverne (Tilford) Keehn in Louisville, Kentucky.
Doug graduated from Doss High School in Louisville, KY, attended Sinclair Community College, Hobart Manufacturing in Troy, Ohio and taught welding at Butler Tech in Butler County, Ohio. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Reserve. He had also served as a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, and church security. Currently working for G&W Products in Fairfield, Ohio and for many years as a welder, sheet metal fabricator, manufacturing engineer and certified welding inspector. Doug was quite knowledgeable about firearms and enjoyed shooting, gunsmith repairs and even taught shooting through the NRA for several years.
Doug was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He loved Grace and Madeline dearly and was probably responsible for a little spoiling at times. He enjoyed working on model car kits and watching the Reds and Bengals in his spare time. Doug was very skilled in building, repairs, home and vehicle maintenance. However, he didn’t particularly like plumbing, but did what had to be done anyway.
Preceded in death by brother: Ronald Keehn in 2010.
Survived by his wife of 53 years: Carol (Jones) Keehn; Daughter: Emily (Joe) Hardy of Vandalia, Ohio; Granddaughters: Grace and Madeline Hardy; Brothers: Louis E. & Judy Keehn and Dale A. & Jakita Keehn both of Louisville, KY; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street – Eaton, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Preble Memory Gardens – West Alexandria, Ohio.
