Vance M. Ketron

VANCE M. KETRON, age 90, of Eaton, Ohio died Monday, September 17, 2007 at his residence. Born on April 18, 1917 at New Paris, Ohio, he was the son of the late Jacob Lloyd & Jessie Maude Cail Ketron. Vance was a 1936 Eaton High School graduate; served in the U.S. Army during World War II; worked at Natco & Avco in Richmond; Delco division of General Motors in Dayton; farmed in Washington & Gasper townships in Preble County; U.S. Mail carrier in Eaton area; volunteer for the Preble County Habitat for Humanity; helped restore the Roberts covered bridge; member Bolivar Lodge #82 F & AM at Eaton and the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; Preble county Farm Bureau; American Legion Post 215 at Eaton; New Hope United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by a brother: Myron Ketron in 1988.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Geraldine M. (Dunham) Ketron; sons and daughters-in-law: Gary M. & Wanda Ketron and Jan D. & Fay Ketron; daughter and son-in-law: Suzanne M. “Susie” & Don Hawley; sister & brother-in-law: Pauline & Burdette White; brother & sister-in-law: Dale & Margaret Ketron all of Eaton; sister-in-law: Wanda Ketron of Lebanon, Ohio. Seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 21, 2007 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 3330 Upshur Northern Road, New Hope, Ohio with Rev Lisa Ellison and Rev Kathy O’Donnell officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union cemetery at Eaton with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 20, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Masonic services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
