REX W. ADAMS, age 81 of Eaton, OH and formerly of Trotwood and Englewood, OH died Sunday, July 6, 2003 at his residence after an extended illness. Born on April 13, 1922 in Plymouth, Michigan he was the son of the late Earl Ray & Beryl Maymie (Ward) Adams. He was a W. W. II U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Southern Pacific and Scouting Squadron #57. He retired in 1983 from Berger Lumber Company of Englewood. Former member of the Grace Community Church of West Milton, OH and current member of First Church of God in Eaton. Preceded in death by Wife: Phyllis C. (Oblinger) Merritt Adams in 1985; Grandson: Danny Rex Shepherd in 1989; Stepson: Bob Merritt in 1962; five Sisters: Mona Hanchett, Grace Buskirk, Maymie Morter, Vera Richardson and Eldena Edna White; Two Brothers: Ray and Willard Ward Adams.
Survived by Three Daughters: Gayle Marie (Billy) Morris of Chino Valley, AZ, Cheryl Anne (Roy Dan ) Mann of Eaton, OH and Ann Marie Fugate of South Charleston, OH; Two Sons: Steven Jan (Kathy) Adams of Orlando, FL and Tim Lee (Ginger) Adams of Eaton, OH; Stepson: Jim Merritt of Dayton, OH; Best Friend “Buddie” The Family Dog (Border Collie); 11 Grandchildren: Richard Guy Shepherd of Eugene, OR, Allen Del Shepherd of Palmdale, CA., Lori Dawn (Alfredo) Casillas of Saugus, CA., Billy Joe Morris of Chino Valley, AZ., Redah Michelle Boomershine of Eaton, OH, Mason Adams of Orlando, FL., Douglas Adams of New Jersey, Chad Johnson of Colorado, Mandy (Chris) Kopf of Eaton, OH, Joe Fugate of South Charleston, OH, and David Fugate of West Alexandria, OH; 9 Great Grandchildren: Britni and Andrew Shepherd of Eugene, OR, Alicia and Jessica Boomershine of Eaton, OH, Crystal Adams of Medford, OR, Daniel, Nicole and Dominic Casillas of Saugus, CA. and Austin Kopf of Eaton, OH. Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, July 10, 2003 - 11:00 A.M. at the First Church of God - 601 East Lexington Road - Eaton, Ohio with Pastor Jerry A. Reynolds and Pastor Rodney Bear officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2003 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Ehrstine Cemetery- Trotwood, OH with full Military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton - 324 Wilmington Avenue- P.O. Box 3509 -Dayton, Ohio 45420-3509.
