Joseph W. Hawkins, Sr.

Joseph W. Hawkins, Sr. age 92, of Lewisburg, Ohio died Monday, October 13, 2008 at Englewood Manor in Englewood, Ohio. Born on November 24, 1915 in Berea, Ky. he was the son of the late John A. & Emily (Barrett) Hawkins. Joe was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran and retired in 1978 after 30 years of service with the Penn Central Railroad. He was the Preble County Bee Inspector for several years and member of the Eagles Lodge #2202 of Eaton and the Ohio Bee Keepers Association. Preceded in death by his wife: Virginia A. Hawkins in 1979 and son: Robert G. Hawkins in 1985.

Survived by daughter: Nancy C. Coffee of Englewood, OH; sons & daughters-in-law: Franklin P. & Georgia Hawkins of Utah and Joseph W. & Paula Hawkins, Jr. Of Mt. Vernon, OH; daughter-in-law: Janice Hawkins of Arkansas; sister: Charlotte "Lottie" Wright of Centerville, IN; long time companion: Virginia Knose; Nieces and Nephews; 8 Grandchildren: Mike Hawkins, Robbie Hawkins, Roger Coffee, Richard Coffee, Rickey Hawkins, Steve Hawkins, Joey Hawkins and Shelli Hawkins; 15 Great Grandchildren: Jennifer, Jason, Jenny, Becca, Anna, Danyal, Tyler, Matthew and John Hawkins; Gregory, Sarah, Codie, Nicole, Kyndra, and Bobbi Jo Coffee; 7 Great Great Grandchildren: Kimberly, Marie, Makyla and Christon Hawkins; Zoey, Breanna and Cole Coffee.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Charles Rinehart officiating. Interment will be held in Arlington Cemetery - Brookville, OH. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
