Emily L. (Phares) Shank, surrounded by her loving family, Emily lost her long and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Hospice of Butler-Warren. Emily was born in Eaton, Ohio on October 7, 1940 to the late John and Mary (Barnes) Phares. She is survived by her husband, Jim Shank; two sons, Jeff and his wife, Linda Manley of Eaton, Doug Manley of Cincinnati; one sister, Shirley and her husband, Ed Brubaker of Texas; two grandsons, Shane and Ethan Manley of Eaton; two great grandchildren, Jaelynne and Jace; and numerous friends.

A 1958 graduate of Eaton High School and a lifelong Eaton resident, Emily was a familiar face to most residents of Preble County as she was employed by Dr. Peter Sambol for 13 years, and later became the co-owner of the Eaton KFC A&W. She was actively involved with the Preble County Pork Festival Board, enjoyed traveling to exotic locations, loved her many animals, and never failed to help anyone in need. Emily possessed a wonderful sense of humor, many diverse interests, extraordinary strength and resilience, and a deep faith in God.

A Celebratory Service will start at 1:00 pm followed by fellowship with friends and family until 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at The Church of Christ; 725 US Route 35 West, Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Paul Nichols officiating. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton, Ohio.
