Donald Howard Frantz

Donald Howard Frantz, age 94, of Eaton, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at his home in Eaton. Born on June 19, 1914, in Lincoln, Ind., he was the son of the late Irvin Tandy and Grace Mae (Snider) Frantz. Don retired in 1971 after 35 years with Beneficial Corp. in Dayton as a senior manager. He was a 1931 Eaton High School graduate and 1935 graduate of Miami University with a bachelor's degree. He lettered in football and basketball and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, having served at the naval supply school at Harvard and supply officer on the U.S.S. Benevolence Hospital Ship.

Survived by wife of 32 years, Barbara Jean (Conley) Frantz; daughter, Dorinda Kay (Roland D.) Taylor of Clermont, Fla.; stepchildren, John Kenneth (Paula) Palmer and James Timothy (Angie) Palmer, both of Middletown, Ohio; grandchildren, Wendy (Kent) Stonecash of Eldorado, Ohio, Heidi (Jim) Brundage of Dresser, Wis., Nick Taylor of Seattle, Wash., and Tony (Leslie) Taylor of Clermont, Fla.; stepgrandchildren, James Timothy Palmer, Michael Allen Palmer and Kasey Palmer, all of Middletown, Ohio; great-grandsons, Austin and Connor Tandy Stonecash of Eldorado, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Delaney Taylor of Clermont, Fla.; nephews, Paul and Mark (Denise) Hebbeler, both of Eaton, Ohio; great-nephews, Jacob Hebbeler of New Hope, Ohio, and Aaron Hebbeler of Dayton, Ohio; brother-in-law, Frantz Hebbeler of Eaton, Ohio; and daughter-in-law, Marlene Frantz of Eaton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Tandy Frantz, in 1993; brother, Eugene Paul Frantz in 1912; and sister, Martha Jane Hebbeler, in 1998.
