Charles P. Bradshaw, age 91, of New Paris, Ohio died Friday, March 18, 2005 at his residence. Born on February 6, 1914 in New Paris, Preble County, Ohio he was the son of the late Earl and Lillie (Shurte) Bradshaw. Charles was a 1933 Jefferson High School graduate and has lived in New Paris most all of his life. He was a truck driver hauling grain for farmers and had been employed at Swayne Robinson Co., Shute Concrete Block Co. and Jones & Judy of New Paris. During the 1960's he was the owner & operator of the City Restaurant in New Paris. Charlie was also the owner and operator of the first trash pick up service routes in the New Paris area and served on the New Paris Village Council for 8 years, New Paris Village Board of Public Affairs and the New Paris Fire Department. Preceded in death by son: Charles Preston Bradshaw, Jr. In 1934; brother: Robert F. Bradshaw in 1990; sisters: Jennie Jones in 2003 and Alberta Knox; special uncle: Charley Shurte.
Survived by Wife of 70 years: Marguerite F. (Carroll) Bradshaw; son & daughter-in-law: James “Jim” R. & Dana K. Bradshaw; daughters & sons-in-law: Pat & Larry Johnson and Mary Jane & Duane Thomas all of New Paris, Ohio; sister: Cosetta Collins of Eaton, Ohio; 15 grandchildren: Bill “Chuck Wagon” Johnson, Sam Johnson, Joe Johnson, Tom Johnson, Kathrine Thomas, Lori Johnson, Paula Lucas, Dan Thomas, Chuck Thomas, Rob Thomas, Doug Thomas, Mitsey Miller, Kelly Greene, Stacey Gooding and Stephanie Bradshaw; 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, OH. with Rev. Steve Whalen officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery - New Paris, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 21, 2005 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the the funeral home.
