BETTY L. MARTIN, 82, of New Paris, OH, passed away, Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Reid Hospital and Healthcare Services in Richmond, IN. Betty was born on August 22, 1931 in Richmond, to the late Samuel E. and Rose L. (Johnson) Ridge. She was a 1949 graduate of Richmond High School and was active with all class reunion activities. On April 12, 1952, Betty married Charles L. Martin and together they raised six children. Betty worked at Knollenberg's in Richmond for 17 years before going to work at the Dunn Center, where she retired in 2008 after 12 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Paris where she will be dearly missed. She served in many capacities for the church and was active in the UMW, cooked meals for the Kiwanis, was an usher leader, printed church bulletins and cleaned the church. Betty was a member at large in the Delta Theta Tau Sorority in New Paris.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Charles in November, 2001 and her son, Brian in July, 2010.

She is survived by her sons, Charles L. (Kay) and Tim (Karen) Martin of Richmond, Steve (Cindy) Martin of Vandalia, OH and David (Blanche) Martin of Del City, OK; daughter, Sally Martin of New Paris and "adopted" daughters, Sheila (Don) Crumley and Patti Hathaway of New Paris; brothers, Samuel J. (Emma) Ridge and Roy M. Ridge of Richmond; sister, Ruth Krupa of Dayton, OH; sisters-in-law, Joyce Martin of New Paris and Ruth Outcalt of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Steve Martin, Matthew Martin, Samantha Martin, Nathaniel Martin, Michael Martin, James Martin, Renee Pierce and Sara Martin; 14 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many extended family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 301 E. Main St., New Paris, with Rodney Dunn officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., New Paris, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service conducted by Delta Theta Tau will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
