James R. Barber, 67, of Eaton, OH and formerly of Camden, Ohio died Thursday morning, June 9, 2011 at McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford, OH. Born on January 30, 1944 in Preble County, OH the son of the late Robert A. & Mattie Faye (Taylor) Barber. James was a 1963 Camden High School graduate and a 1964 graduate of the Dayton Barber School. He retired in 1994 from Food Services at Miami University in Oxford and had operated the Camden Bar and a Barbershop in Camden. He served in the 1487 Transportation Unit with the Ohio National Guard in Eaton and served in Iraq during the Iraq Freedom campaign at age 60. In 2005 he retired from the U.S. Army with over 38 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. both in Camden. Preceded in death by his wife Rebecca Jo Barber in 1981 and Sister: Helen Jane Flick.
Survived by his Daughters: Vicki D. Barber of Somerville, OH; Lora Dee Boehmer of Piqua, OH and Brittany Lemons of Oxford, OH.; Sons: James R. Barber, Jr. of Oxford, OH and James Travis Barber of Eaton, OH; Sister: Glenna I. Mabry of Camden, OH; 20 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Nein - Barnes Funeral Home, 249 North Main Street, Camden, OH with Rev. Trevor D. Bridgeford, Jr. officiating. Interment will be held in Fairmount Cemetery in Camden with full military honors. Family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
